David and I are still slowly getting settled into our home (seriously, very slowly. We've been here for almost 8 months now!). One of the projects that David tackled was our awesome movie wall. We are both big fans of movies and after I had an idea of doing a gallery wall, David came up with this: framed posters and prints of our favorite films. It came together beautifully.
I didn't want to post a tutorial only because there really wasn't anything crazy awesome and groundbreaking about how he set up the wall. In fact, it was actually more simple than what most (more professional) people do. All he did was hang them up with push-pins first and then put in nails in the "official" places. He did such a great job of setting it up.
Two HUGE tips that I would have fo anyone considering doing this is to keep all your posters very simple. We kept a modern-ish theme to all of the posters we purchased and printed to keep it clean and simple without making it feel cluttered. We each chose a favorite movie to get a huge print of and then chose other favorites to have smaller prints of. The second tip being that you should really give some space to your frames. As much as I adore gallery walls that I have tighter spacing and diversifing objects, it just doesn't work with these posters because they're all so colorful and each one has one or more words on them, which is plenty to keep it looking fun.
Because it was very difficult to find small prints that we could purchase, David edited and printed all of the posters except the Rushmore, The Life Aquatic, The Royal Tenenbaums, and Big Fish. In case you're wondering, we did consider re-naming this "The Wes Anderson Movie Wall." What can we say? We're huge fans.
If you were to make your own movie wall, which movie posters would you chose yourself? xoxo
p.s. The first three photos were taken with my iPhone 4S and edited with the Afterlight App. All other photos were taken with my Canon 60D, as usual.
